Am I over reacting?
My 7 year old received a birthday party invitation today from a classmate. It included where she was registered. Really? I get this for family but for a birthday party with little friends?
I'm losing it!
I am supposed to be in northern California right now. But I'm not. Ya know why? Because I thought I booked my flight to leave at 9:45 am but instead booked it for 9:45 pm. Aghhhhhh! Looking forward to arriving in San Francisco at midnight!

Kismet
Everything happens for a reason. I used to hate when people would say this because bad things happen to good people, sometimes really bad things and I don't get it. I don't expect the world to be neat and perfect but when really bad things happen I would just think...why? I've grown in this process for many reasons and am now okay with this "reasoning" train of thought. It still upsets me but now I really feel like you have to see the big picture and yes it's sad but if something, anything good comes from it then there is purpose.
I joined a small discussion group at a church that we are thinking about joining a few weeks ago. This is a whole separate thought/conversation but it's something that I've been wanting to do for a long time.
It's time.
Anywho, we met for our first meeting at a restaurant and there was a girl at the end of the table that I KNEW I had met before. Her face was familiar, her voice was too. We chatted and as it turns out she just moved here from Raleigh and after exhausting some of the places we frequent, no connection was made.
At the second meeting we realized we both had once lived in Memphis. We were talking to others so we didn't expand but I thought maybe that 's where I knew her from?
I told my story that night and of course a huge part of it was about Patrick.
She, her name is Daphne, left me a message a few days later that she had made the connection. We kept missing each other so I was really looking forward to our next meeting, hoping she had cracked the code. She had.
She went to the DAISY website and saw Patrick's picture. She used to work for Patrick in Memphis.
Small world? Fate? Destiny? We have both been through so much and are both looking to grow spiritually.
It is a cool connection.
Maybe there is a method to the madness?

What's for dinner?
Peanut butter chicken with rice. At least that's how I described it to the kids. John and I thought it was great, the kids reacted in their typical manner:
Riley: lots of complaining; ate some of it
Lauren: a little complaining; ate most of it
Kate: complaints, pouting. Ate 1 or 2 bites.
I might try it again with the kids. We've had worse nights at the dinner table!
Peanut butter chicken with rice:
2-3T canola oil
1-1.5 lbs skinless chicken breasts
1 cup frozen or fresh green beans
1/2 cup chopped red pepper
1 1/2 cups coconut milk (lite)
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 T red or green curry paste
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter
2 T brown sugar
2 T lime juice
Cook chicken in oil until no longer pink. Add green beans and red pepper and cook 3-4 more minutes. While chicken is cooking, whisk remaining ingredients. After green beans and red pepper are done pour the sauce over the whole mixture. Bring to a boil then simmer for 5 minutes or so until the sauce thickens.
Serve over jasmine rice or you can make coconut rice:
3/4 cup lite coconut milk
1 cup chicken broth
2T lime juice
2 cups instant rice
1/2 cup toasted coconut flakes
Bring everything but toasted flakes to a boil, cover, remove from heat and let stand for 7 or 8 minutes . Fluff with a fork and add toasted coconut flakes.
